May=A bust.

Well this month was good but I spent lots and didn't track any of my spending, took dd on a weekend trip had a great time and stayed under budget!! I managed to put away the normal savings. 25/dd, 75/ large ef, 100/baby ef, 75/Christmas. But nothing extra. June will be a WAY better month it has to be! I'm going to track everything, and really try to cut back on unneeded spending. Also going to try to not eat out as much. Fingers crossed it's a way better month!!

    Give yourself a pat-on-the-back for sticking to May's savings program and getting sums into the right categories. June is a new month and new opportunity to track spending. You gotta know that eating out can wreck money plans PDQ. What actions would smash that? Don't leave home hungry. A P&J sandwich is fast and easy. Add half banana and small yogurt to fill up. Stash a box of breakfast bars in the car. Fill a ziplock box with last night's dinner to take with you for lunch as part of after dinner tidy. Leave a post-it note on the door, it is the reminder to take your lunch!

    What other steps can you take to make June the most successful ever?

    Not a total bust, from what you say. But I know what you mean. I feel like I took my hands off the steering wheel a few too many times in May, and even though we didn't crash, I could steer a lot better in June if I tried.

    I'm pretty lucky and don't have to worry about lunches out through the week I work from home. But then I always end up eating supper out and usually lunch at least once on the weekend sometimes twice. My plan is to just say no to friends when they ask to go out for supper, hopefully I can stick to it! The reason I felt the month was such a bust was the lack of extra going into savings. I don't have much extra planned to put in for extra this month either but I did start 3 new categories. Car:150, gift:50, house hold items:40.
